The Coolidge Bears defeated the Poston Butte Broncos in a Unified Sports basketball game, 36 – 20. The game was played at Coolidge High School on Thursday, May 16, 2013.

Both schools have Unified Sports team for basketball and track and field. Florence High School participates in the program as well. The success of the program has resulted in the addition of flag football, golf, and cheerleading for next year. Arizona Special Olympics and the Arizona Interscholastic Association provide support for the program.

According to PBHS coach and area mentor, Adam Leckie, the goal of the program is to provide an opportunity for athletes with disabilities to participate in high school sports in the traditional way.  Each team is made up of athletes – those with disabilities – and partners – those without disabilities.

It’s quite an accomplishment considering football may not even be his best sport. In addition to his football accolades, Lee is a two-time state-champion
